The institution that would become Plumstead Christian School was shaped by the conviction that education needs to be centered around Learning God’s Truth. Forged by Rev. Paul Histand, the visionary credited with founding the school, God's grace, provision and leading have been clearly evident throughout our history.
Founded on September 13th, 1948 as Danboro Mennonite School, the doors of Danboro Chapel opened to 23 students in grades 1 through 10. In the winter of 1955 at a total cost of $38,000 a new school building was opened and renamed Plumstead Christian Day School on the current site of the junior high and senior high school. That first building contained two classrooms, office space, and a recreation room.
A new school constitution was adopted in 1970 establishing Plumstead as an independent, non-denominational Christian school, as growth continued. Under the direction of principal Lauren Rhine, a high school program was formed. The first freshman class started school in the fall of 1977. The first graduating class received diplomas on May 29, 1981.
Growth continued, and in 1982, Peace Valley Elementary School in Chalfont was purchased and opened its lovely 15-acre campus for K-5 PCS students. Through a series of expansions and land acquisitions, the Plumstead campus grew to 32 acres – allowing for development and growth of the athletics facilities, as well as future expansion and improvements.
Today, our alumni are pastors, missionaries, doctors, lawyers, teachers, and most of all, leaders -- impacting the world for Christ as dedicated members of local churches and as godly parents rearing the next generation for service to the cause of Christ. For more than 60 years, the central focus of Plumstead Christian School has been – and continues to be - preparing God’s leaders for tomorrow.
